Get Involved

At LilyBoo we strongly believe that it is essential that we as a team give back to our local community.  With the support of our customers right behind us it means that we can create and donate.

Why do we do it?

We have two main reasons why we like to support charities.  Firstly, Hayley was a nurse for a long time before creating LilyBoo and that doesn’t leave you.  The principles of giving back stay with you and it is so important to the whole ethos of LilyBoo.

Secondly, we see first hand the impact that craft can have on people’s wellbeing.  Whether it be someone trying a craft or receiving a craft, the impact can be significant on the individual’s confidence, self belief and knowing that they are part of a community.

Our Current Projects

Threads of Lostwithiel

We are just launching a new Community Project which will bring together community groups in and around Lostwithiel.   We will be asking community groups ‘What does Lostwithiel mean to you’?

Each community group will be provided with a panel of fabric, threads and needles ready for their project.  Then its over to them to create art, craft, design onto the fabric.  It might be an image of the medieval bridge or one of the many events that happens in Lostwithiel, but with the use of colour, thread and design they can create what Lostwithiel means to them on the fabric.

The panels will be joined and displayed in Lostwithiel in a celebration of community within the town.  Should your community group wish to get involved please let us know.

Little Harbour Hospice and Mount Edgecumbe Hospice

We donate throughout the year items that they can sell in their craft stand at the reception.  This year we raised £235 at our Christmas Makers Market Raffle for Little Harbour Hospice.   Donations are now on hold until the New Year.

This year we are currently focusing on crochet blankets for Mount Edgecumbe Hospice for people’s beds and for families to take home with them.

The Shoe Box Appeal for the Elderly

Mark and Hayley (Mr and Mrs LilyBoo) donate to this group every year and last year we got LilyBoo involved! This year we already have donated 30 bags with crochetted blankets to them.

Collecting will commence again from September 2026.

Sponsorship

Through our journey of meeting people we love to sponsor a space at a craft fayre, normally the Lostwithiel event, Dickensian. This year we have a lovely lady who we are sponsoring as she makes for charity. We will share more on Dickensian evening.

Our local school

We have been so impressed by the children’s crochet class at the local school and the children themselves with their enthusiasm and politeness that we now donate yarn to the school to support their development. And we are very excited that the crochet group are making for our Christmas window display.

Charity group

Our charity group runs once a week on a Thursday from 10am. They use the workshop space, we supply tea and coffee and pass any free yarn we can to them as well as any donations we receive. They are absolutely brilliant and we can’t thank them enough for all they do and all the makers that donate do.
If you would like to get involved please let us know and we can give you all the information you need. You can pop into the shop, email lilyboolostwithiel@gmail.com or call 01208 367220.

We so appreciate your support.
