This lovely workshop is a great way to learn about Kawandi Quilting. A handstitched quilt making technique made by the Siddi community in Wester India.  Kawandi quilts are usually made from old cotton saris and worn out clothing cut into strips for the quilt top.  Running stitches are used to sandwich the quilt together and often fabric triangles called phula (flower) are stitched to the corners. Kawandi quilts are made from the outside edges inward and the patches are overlapped and sewn down in a spiral working, towards the centre of the quilt.
In this workshop you will be making Kawandi coasters, which will give you call the skills you need to go on and make your own blanket.
